ProFractional Resurfacing

For acne scars, scars, and wrinkles

ProFractional resurfacing achieves excellent results in skin tone and texture with limited downtime. With ProFractional, we use a tiny laser beam to focus precisely on the problem areas of the skin (like wrinkles or acne scarring) and leave the surrounded areas untreated and healthy. This allows for a far faster healing time than with many other resurfacing lasers. By treating the targeted areas, we initiate your body’s natural healing response that in turn stimulates new collagen growth.

  • DOWNTIME:           Downtime will vary based on the aggressiveness of the procedure and your body’s response. Typical downtime is 2-5 days.
  • MAINTENANCE:      Excellent results can be obtained in just one treatment, though the recommended number of treatments varies from patient to patient.
  • CONSULTATION:     Come in for a consultation where we will assess your skin and create a treatment plan to meet your goals, based on your specific needs. Call us at 310.546.1188 or request an appointment online.

Frequently asked questions

How does ProFractional Resurfacing work?

With ProFractional resurfacing, we use a Erbium:YAG Laser to target and treat thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin. Because only a fraction of the skin is directly treated, the surrounding untreated tissue promotes rapid healing. The treated tissue initiates the body’s wound healing response which stimulates collagen production that heals and improves skin from the inside out.

Who is an ideal candidate for ProFractional Resurfacing?

ProFractional Resurfacing is perfect for patients wanting to lessen the appearance of scars, fine lines, and deeper wrinkles, and improve overall tone and texture.

What happens during the procedure?

We will walk you through everything during your consultation, including providing information on how to prepare for and how to treat your skin following your fractional resurfacing treatment. During your procedure we will apply numbing cream 30 minutes before the peel to minimize any discomfort. We use a laser hand piece to apply the laser energy which feels and sounds similar to a rubber band snapping.

What can I expect after fractional resurfacing?

Once skin is healed, you’ll see results immediately and collagen remodeling about 4-6 months after treatment. Depending on the depth of treatment and how your body tolerates the peel, downtime is 2-5 days. Immediately following, it will feel like a bad sunburn, red and possibly a little swollen. Over the next day or two, skin may slough off and feel itchy. Redness may up persist a few days, but can be covered up with makeup. You must be vigilant to protect your skin from any sun exposure and apply sunscreen containing zinc oxide every day.

Do I need more than one ProFractional Resurfacing treatment?

It depends on your skin condition and the results you’d like to achieve. Best results are achieved with multiple treatments, but you will still see a difference with a single fractional resurfacing. During your consultation, we will create a treatment plan that works with your goals and can schedule out your appointments.

Can I get fractional resurfacing on areas of my body other than my face?

Yes! We also treat neck, chest, and hands—and scar sites—with excellent results.
