Owner and founder of Manhattan Dermatology, Dr. Ashley Magovern believes in providing genuine, honest, and expert dermatologic care, and is proud to practice both traditional and integrative medicine using the most advanced techniques, technologies, and approaches. She has assembled an amazing team to provide her patients with the ultimate in care, kindness, and skill, and wants everyone to truly enjoy their experience.

Kimberly Ducille relocated from sunny Florida to take on the California lifestyle in 2017, trading her retail and brand management background for a new and exciting journey into the world of skincare and cosmetic beauty. Kimberly is passionate about customer service and ensuring that every patient has an amazing experience here at Manhattan Dermatology. Since joining our team six years ago, Kimberly has now moved into the head of operations and manages marketing, brand implementation, social media + external brand partnerships, special events and retail/ecommerce. She takes pride in ensuring that both our mission statement and brand message is represented in a genuine and authentic way.

Dr. Courtney Phillips received her medical degree and completed her dermatology residency at University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine. She was awarded the Madeline Boccuzzi Award for excellence in dermatology, and served as Chief Resident during her final year. Dr. Phillips has extensive training in general, pediatric, and cosmetic dermatology as well as dermatologic surgery. She has a particular interest in acne, psoriasis, skin cancer screenings, and cosmetic dermatology. A resident of Manhattan Beach, Dr. Phillips loves the beach lifestyle and enjoys running on the strand, boxing, or cycling in the front row at SoulCycle.

A board-certified physician assistant who takes great pride in giving her patients the ultimate in professional and personal care, Angelyn England always takes the extra time to listen to and educate her patients. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Studies from DeSales University in Pennsylvania, then went on to earn her master’s in physician assistant studies. Angelyn has extensive training in both general and cosmetic dermatology. She has worked in the field for 20 years, gaining valuable experience helping dermatology patients of all ages. Her expertise includes treating acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, warts, and rashes, as well as performing skin exams to screen for skin cancers. She is skilled in performing biopsies and excisions and has also worked in dermatology research and assisted in Mohs surgeries. Her cosmetic experience includes full face rejuvenation with injectable fillers, Botox, Dysport, chemical peels, microneedling and various laser treatments. Her goal is to make you look natural and radiant in your own skin. When Angelyn is not working, she loves spending time with her family, watching her two boys play soccer, walking her dog and enjoying the beach.

A board-certified physician assistant who has been practicing in the medical field for over 11 years, Jackie Tran grew up in Orange County and graduated from University of California, Irvine, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She went on to become a physician assistant and received her Master of Science from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, IL. Jackie rotated at Manhattan Dermatology as part of her PA program, and after seeing Jackie in action, Dr. Magovern knew she had to have her on the team some day! So, after a few years practicing in Chicago, Jackie has enthusiastically returned to officially join the team at Manhattan Dermatology. Jackie is dedicated to the practice of medical and cosmetic dermatology as well as preserving and improving the quality of her patients’ skin health, integrity, and youthfulness. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her amazing husband, two daughters, and beloved American bulldog, Briggs.

Lauren is a graduate of the University of Southern California with her Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion & Disease prevention and her Master of Physician Assistant Practice at the USC Keck School of Medicine. She is a board-certified physician assistant and has been practicing dermatology in Los Angeles for the past ten years, working in both premier dermatology practices and a cosmetic medical spa. She is passionate about both medical and cosmetic dermatology because she wants her patients to look and feel their best. After completing a rigorous and challenging set of training modules geared specifically toward being a dermatology PA, she earned the special distinction of "SDPA Diplomate" through the Society for Dermatology Physician Assistants. Lauren has lived in Hermosa beach for six years and loves biking and walking on the strand with her dog, Chewy (with a hat and SPF 30+ sunblock, of course). She loves working out, country music, traveling, and going to concerts.

Natalie received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. She worked for several years in emergency and trauma surgery before venturing into plastic surgery, and now aesthetic dermatology. She is deeply passionate about enhancing her patients' natural beauty by focusing on healthy youthful skin and facial balancing. She is a believer in total body wellness, taking into consideration her patients' lifestyle habits that play into health and beauty. Her experience includes neurotoxins, fillers, radiofrequency and traditional micro needling, plasma fibroblast treatments, BBL, and laser facial rejuvenation. While not in the office you can find her walking her dog Ozzy along the beach, running along the strand, or hitting up Barry's bootcamp or pilates.

Kellie is originally from Laguna Beach, CA, but now finds the South Bay to be home. She has been in medical aesthetics for over 5 years and was sought out by ModernSkinMD for her amazing skills. Kellie works closely with Dr. Magovern to bring the latest specialty services to the clinic, including microchanneling, plasma fibroblast therapy, coolsculpting and Cryoskin. Her patients love her touch, her kind bedside manner, and her sweet smile. Kellie is inspired and in awe of the ever-changing field of dermatology, and strives every day to do great work, meet new patients and help her patients achieve beautiful, clear skin and feel beautiful inside and out. Kellie of course loves skin care and is excited to be a part of the advancements in the field and enjoys educating her patients on their skin care regimens. She prides herself on learning something new and exciting every day. In her free time, Kellie enjoys working out and getting crafty in the kitchen.

Marissa has been in dermatology for almost 8 years now and she absolutely loves it. She works in the medical admin role and enjoys helping patients with their Mohs, pathology, prescription information and prior authorizations to ensure that they are all set and, on the path, to feeling better. Marissa is also in her second year of medical school to become a Respiratory Therapist. She has 5 small poodles which are her fur babies so in her spare time you can catch her at the dog park or beach!

Janet is from Fresno, CA and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 16 and has fallen in love with sunny southern California. Janet had been in the medical field for 8 years and has a degree in medical billing and coding. Janet joined our team over 2 years ago, and once we saw her extraordinary organizational skills and leadership, she was quickly promoted and now helps us administratively with hundreds of day-to-day tasks. Janet decided to enter the world of dermatology because she loves meeting patients and seeing what our cosmetic and medical procedures and regimens can do for them; especially because she had severe acne when she started in her position. Janet feels like her skin looks amazing now and she loves to share her story with our patients who may be going through a similar skin journey. Janet is a team player, and we are looking forward to seeing how she will grow with our practice! Janet is the mother of a beautiful 11-year-old daughter and when she is not working, she enjoys spending her free time playing volleyball, doing hair & makeup, and going to karaoke.

Grace was born and raised in Hermosa Beach, California. As a teen growing up in the South Bay, Grace was inspired to become a part of a dermatologist's office after her own personal struggle with acne and scarring. Motivated by her passion for the medical field, Grace attended Arizona State University and received her bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in the History and Philosophy of Medical Science. Previously she worked with Manhattan Beach dermatologist Dr. Moy creating, developing, and researching studies based on skin cancer trends across the South Bay as well as treatments for solar purpura. In the future, she hopes to attend Physician Assistant school in the LA area to help others who are struggling with acne and inspire confidence in those who struggle with skin imperfections. When she's not learning about medicine and dermatology, you can find her watching volleyball at 22nd street, surfing, working out, cooking, and hanging out with her friends and family.

January Strausa is a patient intake coordinator here at Manhattan Dermatology. She joined the team in the beginning of 2023 after graduating from UC Santa Cruz. She has always been into all things beauty and wellness which is how she became interested in dermatology. January loves speaking with patients and being part of the process to get them the care they need; and to look and feel their best! In her free time, she enjoys writing, gardening, live music, and going to the beach.

Christina worked in retail management and customer service for 10 years. She graduated from East Los Angeles Occupational with her CCMA. After graduating she went on to work in an urgent care facility. This experience helped her discover her passion for dermatology. Christina has now been in dermatology for the last 5 years and I love how hands on is with patient care and their outcomes. She loves learning about all the new technology and therapies to help ensure that we can provide the best care possible. In her free time she enjoys going to amusement parks with her daughter, playing softball and all things spooky, Disney + Christmas.

Jody Licup is a long-time resident of the South Bay who has worked in the medical field for over 19 years. She’s been at ModernSkinMD since day one, over 11 years ago. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all things front and back office and has become Dr Magovern’s firsthand assistant. She is a loyal employee, a patient-favorite, and can recite every patient’s name. She remembers everything and everyone. We all notice when Jody takes a day off, which is basically never. She knows the practice upside-down and inside-out. Jody truly enjoys working with patients and helping them meet their healthcare needs. When Jody’s not at work, she enjoys her free time spent with her son, her husband and her dog, Panda.

With a passion for medicine, skin care and cosmetics, Amber Jana is a dynamic member of our back office team. Amber is a certified medical assistant and was awarded the Perfect Attendance Award at SCROC, where she attended the medical assistant program. We were lucky to have her join our team at Manhattan Dermatology! Amber’s passion for learning mirrors her love for helping patients look good and feel good. When Amber is not at work, you can find her working up a sweat at kickboxing.

Angela Cardenas attended UEI College after high school to become a medical assistant. She accomplished her goal of starting her career early and is excited for her first experience in the medical field at Manhattan Dermatology. Angela wanted to get into dermatology to learn more about good skin care and to help others find solutions to their problems. When not at the office, she enjoys going to the beach, listening to music, being with her family, and traveling.

Daniella has been in the medical field for over 8 years and graduated from both the medical assistant and EMT programs at SCROC. She has been in dermatology field for 3+ years and ophthalmology field for 4 years. Daniella decided to peruse a career in the medical field to not only help people but to make a difference in their lives. Daniella recently married to her high school sweetheart, and they are proud pet parents to 2 cats. When Daniella is not working, she enjoys traveling, cooking and baking sweet treats.

Evelyn is a new member of the Manhattan Dermatology team. She grew up in Redondo Beach and has been working in dermatology for 18 years. Evelyn decided to enter the world of dermatology and skincare due to her own personal struggles with acne as a child. Evelyn loves the diversity of dermatology from assisting patients with acne, skin cancers and even cosmetics. On her my free time I like to spend time with my boys and husband going on adventures or watching sports.

Derrick decided to join the Manhattan Dermatology team as a medical assistant because he struggled with acne for years and always wanted to find a solution to have clear and healthy skin. He has recently reached his one-year anniversary working in the skincare field. His favorite part of his role as an MA is connecting with and getting to know our patients. Derrick enjoys being a part of their journey and getting to see, first-hand, the progression of a patient's skin conditions. He is so happy witnessing the positive changes on their faces as they start feeling better.

During the pandemic Rebekah grew a passion for skin care. At that time, she was getting advice from random outlets, sometimes unreliable, or on the internet. But now, working at Manhattan Dermatology she enjoys learning more in-depth information and having access to experts in dermatology. She enjoys watching our patients experience the same satisfaction! She loves being a part of patients’ journey that may have been in the same situation, ultimately leaving feeling better about themselves. In her spare time she enjoys reading books, trying new foods, and watching hockey games.
